Jordi Bonell - Electric and midi guitar

 

Born in Barcelona in 1958.

 

From a young age he became interested in music and studied guitar, piano and music theory at the Conservatorio del Liceu in Barcelona.

 

In the mid-70 forms along with Rafael Zaragoza and Victor Cortina the group Secta Sonica with whom he would record 2 LP and performs live shows throughout the national territory.

 

Soon would enter to be part of the group Urban Music with JA Amargós and Carles Benavent and continues to work on other projects as La Factoria Musical and Carles Benavent Group.

 

From the late 70s, he enters a stage of specialization as a session player and sideman with many artists from every conceivable musical trends, gaining great experience and versatility.

You can count hundreds of recordings and live performances throughout his long career: has recorded with artists as diverse as Lola Flores, JM Serrat, The Suprems, Deni Laine, Ricky Martin, Juan Gabriel, Michel Legrand, Jack Perez, Dyango, Moncho, Marina Rosell, Auseron Santiago, Miguel Bosé, etc., touring worldwide.

 

Always in a close relationship with mostly jazz musicians, he has played with Chet Backer, Marc Johnson, Archie Shep, Jim Hall, Tim Riess, Gari Willis, Larry Willis, and Spanish musicians such as Jorge Pardo, Carlos Benavent, Horacio Fumero, Chano Dominguez, etc .

 

A late 80 won a scholarship to study at the New School for Social Research in New York, where he studied with Jim Hall, John Avercrombie, Jacki Byard, Jimmy Cobb, etc.

 

He has done many projects with other guitarists like Luis Salinas, Larry Coriell, Raimundo Amador, Tomatito, Dani Perez, recording two albums with BMG, called Guitar Word.

 

In the 80s he received:

the Award for best rock band in Bocanegra, founded by Victor Obiols and Pep Sales.

Award for best jazz band Sugar Imaginary (Origin) by Jordi and Mario Rossi, Perico Sanbeat, Albert Bover.

He also received from the hands of the Association of Musicians of Catalonia, the award for best guitarist on several occasions.

 

In the 90 recorded countless soundtracks for film and television and also his first solo guitar album Angel-blau, which was named best album of the year.

 

Lately, he has released his latest work called Agua Madre, with such notable collaborations from Carles Benavent, Luis Salinas, Chano Dominguez, Antonio Serrano and others.

 

Currently combines his performances with projects with Chano Domínguez, Spanish National Ballet, Tim Riess, The Rolling Stones Charlie Watts Project and others. ..so as flamenco jazz group awave.
